SUSTAINABILITY & OUR ARTISANAL APPROACH

Casa Catinella works conciously and slowly, ensuring high quality, sustainably sourced materials and products remain our number one priority.

Each of our Basket Bags are hand-woven in Ghana, and we are committed to ethical and sustainable making processes. The art of this basket weaving is handed down through generations in the villages of Northern Ghana, and we are committed to supporting and respecting the artisans, their culture and their practices.

The elephant grass used in our Basket Bags is a 100% sustainable material, growing abundantly in the low-lying flood plains around Bolgatanga in northern Ghana. Harvested, dried and boiled to dye, the weavers split each length in two before rolling to add extra strength. We believe in longevity and considered choice for our products, offering them to be loved and kept for many years, staying away from trends and the waste of throwaway products.

VALUES

At Casa Catinella, we believe ethics and sustainability should underpin each and every product, as well as timeless design. We encourage slow consumption and the buying of pieces that stand the test of time, straying away from a trend driven and highly-wasteful fast fashion culture.

Our core values of high quality, sustainability, and simple beauty seek to reset over-consumption through functional pieces that become treasured staples for many years to come.

ARTISANAL APPROACH

Casa Catinella seeks to tread lightly, and remain considered.

Holding artistry and creativity to heart, none of our products are overproduced. Due to the very nature of hand-making, every piece itself remains unique, each with its own story to tell.

Through this approach, we reduce our environmental impact, and constantly seek new ways to reduce our carbon footprint throughout the process.

Each of our bags are also hand-tagged with our Casa Crest at our HQ in Sydney, Australia.
