AID FOR AFGHANISTAN

Heartbroken by the atrocities unfolding in the capital and entire nation following Taliban takeover and the collapse of the Afghan government, we have committed to donating 100% of all sales on Friday, 20th August to organisations on the ground.

We have also donated an additional $15,000 AUD from sales over the past weekend.

The Australian fashion and textile industry alone contributes over $27.2 billion dollars to the local economy annually, and is an industry largely made up of women (77% ). Globally, over 80% of garment workers are women, and women still account for the largest consumer base when it comes to clothing - especially luxury fashion.

Too Young To Wed is a NFP organisation currently working to evacuate high-risk women & their families from the emerging crisis in Afghanistan. Among the women are translators, reporters, human-aid workers, and an author who has written several books in Taliban rule and its repercussions on women’s rights.

FLYAWAY are conducting emergency flight evacuations for high risk individuals & their families including those who have worked as human rights lawyers, champions of Women’s and LGBTQ rights, journalists, government liaisons, artists, and interpreters and their families. Every $1500 raised represents a seat on a plane out of Kabul, and a life saved.

In such a female driven industry, the impact of Taliban rule on the women, with loss of education and freedom, is harrowing. All the scenes from the ground are unfathomable, with hundreds of thousands displaced, subject to escalating violence, and at risk under Taliban rule. This one day of sales is a small way for us to give back.
